Gilbert Morris

Gilbert NMO Morris was Professor at George Mason University (1995-2001), where he held positions in four faculties: Philosophy & Religion, History, English and African American Studies. He was appointed in to New Century College in 1998, where he taught “the history of systems of thought”. Also in 1998, Morris was appointed Director of the African-American Studies programme at George Mason University, and Lecturer at the Global Institute. He was appointed Lecturer in “The History of Revolutions” At the Smithsonian Associates, at the Smithsonian Institute, Washington DC from 1998-2000). He was also a Member of the Mid-Atlantic Scholars Associates at Princeton University (1997-1999), where he lectured on “Being. Race & the Epistemologies of Displacement”. Professor Morris was recipient of the “Technology Across the Curriculum Award” in 1999 at George Mason. He has lectured for the Lead America Foundation at Fordham and Pace Universities on International law and at Georgetown and Columbia Universities on the “History of Medicine & Technology”. Morris is a Distinguished Fellow of the Sir William Goodenough College, London, UK where his installation lecture was titled: “Critical Linguistic Faultlines in the Israeli-Palestinian Peace Process”. He has published widely on the variety of subjects and disciplines in his oeuvre. His 2011 book, “Rescue America”, (co-authored with Chris Salamone), rose to number 5 on the New York Times bestseller list. His first volume of Poetry “Melancholiandesire” was published in 2015 and his forthcoming book: “Digital Leviathan”, will be published in 2018.
