As King Solomon in the hundred and eightieth year after the lsraelites had come out of Egypt, in the fourth year of his reign over lsrael, he began to build the temple of the Lord.
His Excellency, the president of Ghana on February 8th, 2019, at the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC launched his campaign to build a National Cathedral for Ghana. When questioned about his reasons, he said “I promised God a National Cathedral before I became President, and will redeem that pledge”.
His promise to his God, but at whose cost?
This Obsession continues till date. Ghana as a country faces major issues with our Education, Health, Agriculture, Employment ,Sanitation etc. A government that is struggling to pay NABCO trainees (Nation Builders Corps) and NSS personnel (National Service Scheme) , a country whose capital city gets flooded within every 2-4 hours of rain, but the President deems it necessary to allocate 25 million Ghana Cedis to build a National Cathedral during these trying times. People are losing their homes, lives and property but the King thinks only a place of worship, a National Cathedral, can save us all.
Along the streets, every crossroad is picketed with signs and advertisements for churches, but our salvation lays with splashing millions the president claims not to have which lead the implementation of new taxation on Ghanaians.
Let’s hail the King to express support for him and hope he lives long to witness the repercussions of the actions taken from his castle.
